Chocolate Crinkles

Crinkles recipe calls for a few simple ingredients which you store in your pantry all year long. Simple yet delicious, crispy shell is hiding a soft chocolate surprise.

Secret to creating beautiful cracks on the shell is keeping the dough in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours, but the best is (if you have time) overnight. You can also bake this recipe with kids. They will enjoy rolling chocolate dough balls in powdered sugar.

Ingredients

75g unsweetened cocoa

185g caster sugar

60ml sunflower oil

3 eggs – room temperature

Pinch of salt

250g all-purpose flour

11g baking powder

For glaze

100g icing sugar

Directions

1. In a bowl of standing mixer combine: 75g unsweetened cocoa with 185g caster sugar and 60ml oil.

2. Add 3 eggs, beat until combined.

3.  At the end just add: pinch of salt, 250g all-purpose flour and 11g baking powder. Beat until combined.

Wrap in the plastic foil and put into the fridge for 3-4 hours.

Preheat oven to 180 degrees – hot fan

4.  Spoon a piece of dough and make a ball. Each ball should have 25g (we recommend checking your chocolate balls on the scale, so they are equally big).

5. Roll each ball in icing sugar and put on the tray lined with baking paper. Keep some distance between balls. Bake for 10 mins.
